Why you need to get your water pressure problems fixed ASAP
When your water pressure is too high or too low, it can be annoying. When you notice this, test it as soon as you can. You can get a water pressure gauge from any hardware store. If it’s under 30 psi, you could be looking at serious problems.
The most likely cause of low pressure is a leak somewhere. This will run up your water bill astronomically before you even realize what hit you. The water build-up can also cause serious damage, wherever it is, to your property. To check for a leak, test the pressure, then turn off your water and don’t use it for two hours and test again. If you get a higher number this time, you have a leak.

Another possibility is that the problem is coming from outside, with the water being delivered to you that way. You can fix this with a pressure tank, which can adjust the water pressure.
High Pressure
On the other hand, your water pressure could be too hard. If you hear a loud thumping noise when you turn the water on, or if you just feel like it’s coming out really hard, use a pressure gauge from the hardware store to test it.
If it’s over 80 psi, it’s too high.
High pressure will build up over time. It will affect not just your pipes but also your fittings and fixtures. Eventually your pipes will crack and break, and your fittings will fail.
Your water pressure may be too high because of its location. You may be at the bottom of a hill, or near another building which has a large need for water and which is affecting you. In cases like this, you can have a plumber install a pressure regulator. This will control how the water comes into your pipes, taking the load off your equipment.
